Raffle Results and Notice
First, we wish to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our fund raising project by purchasing a raffle ticket.
As most of you know, the Cheyenne Sunrise Lions Club sponsored the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Raffle in order to raise funds to support the Allen H. Stewart Lions Camp for the Visually Impaired and to contribute to the Lions of Wyoming Foundation. Each summer sixteen to twenty youngsters attend the Summer School at the Allen H. Stewart Lions Camp without cost. They learn skills from the Expanded Core Curriculum for the Visually Impaired and Blind. The Lions of Wyoming Foundation provides matching funds grants to local Lions Clubs to assist them in helping less fortunate citizens with eye surgeries, eye exams/glasses/hearing aids, prosthetics and software (to name a few). Both these recipients assist with vision and hearing issues for citizens of Wyoming and surrounding states.
This was our first attempt at a project of this magnitude, so we recognized at the start, there was a chance we might not be as successful as we hoped. The cost of the six prize vehicles for the raffle and promotional costs would have been approximately $115,000. That equates to 1,150 tickets being sold to cover all costs.
Our contest rules state that when 1,000 tickets were sold, we would have an Early Bird Drawing and give away one motorcycle. Since less than 1,000 tickets were sold, there was no Early Bird Drawing. The Rules also state that if we sold less than 1,500 tickets, we could elect to give away cash prizes instead of the prize vehicles. This option gives 50% to be awarded equally to the six winning ticket holders, and 50% to remain with club for the charities designated. This method permits us to realize a small profit for the projects designated to support while still providing a meaningful prize for the winners.
At the time of our drawing, we had sold 490 tickets and provided 177 tickets via the three-for-the-price-of-two option and promotional activities. Total income from sales of tickets was $47,940.00. Total expenses for promotion and other expenses were $16,438.46. This leaves net proceeds of $31,501.54. $15,750.77 for the club's projects and $15,750.77 divided equally between the six winners, or $2,625.00 each.
We sincerely hope you will understand that the number of ticket sold did not provide sufficient funds to purchase all six prizes. As a result, we had no choice but to apply the alternate financial distribution formula. We sincerely appreciate your support of this fund raising effort and we hope the winners will appreciate a substantial cash prize in lieu of the intended prizes.
